About Therapy

522891736You feel lost and adrift.

It’s exhausting constantly treading water, trying desperately to keep your head above the surface while never making any progress.

You’re tired of fear holding you back from diving beneath the surface to examine the fears living there.

If only there was some way to start over and begin again.

It’s scary to make the next step.

You’ve read what seems like a million different therapist profiles, and you’re not sure which way to turn.

For a long time, you’ve been putting off making a call, but ignoring and avoiding it is not paying off.

It’s time to commit to yourself and erase the doubts and fears keeping you paralyzed. After all, you’re worth it.

Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.

Let’s take the plunge.

Toes in the water, waves approaching, you take a deep breath, dive into a new experience, and come face-to-face with your irritability, anxiety, depression, and withdrawal from your loved ones.

Therapy can help you learn to observe yourself and others, identify emotions, reframe negative thoughts, and release the ones no longer serving you. As you reconnect with yourself and others, you’ll be able to clarify the values you live by and accept that your best is, and always has been, good enough.

Root out the false narratives dragging you into the murky depths of indecision, overthinking, blame, anger, and resentment.

Facing your fears not only takes bravery, but it also takes the willingness to look through a different lens, to shift and try a new approach, and to continue even when things seem hard.

Uncovering core beliefs takes time and the willingness to be uncomfortable. As we explore fears and unhealthy patterns, you’ll learn to release these false narratives that muddy the waters, causing needless pain and conflict.

As you progress in therapy, you’ll rediscover who you are, what you want, and how to get there. Establish boundaries, practice self-compassion, break dysfunctional relationship patterns, develop assertiveness, communicate clearly, and build your authentic life.

And keep your momentum going into the future.

Maintaining progress made in therapy is like learning to swim – the more you practice and use your tools, the more they become automatic and second nature.

It’s essential to simply do your best as you continue to observe without judgment, ask questions, seek clarification, and use coping skills and grounding techniques to anchor you in the present moment.

Using these maintenance tools will carry you forward with a renewed spirit, purposeful intent, and a sense of independence.

Let’s work together.

As your therapist, I am honored to witness your journey and help you make the changes you’ve always wanted.

I will reintroduce you to hope and hold it for you until you are ready, willing, and able to embrace it for yourself.

You have the strength to achieve what’s new, challenging, and authentically you in this wonderful world.

There is hope and meaning to be found in life while also acknowledging the existence of loss, pain, and suffering.

About Me

TamelaMy background.

Losing a parent during childhood taught me at a young age not to take the people I love for granted. My resilience was born of necessity, not choice. However, my decision to live life like “the glass is at least half full” was entirely by choice.

As a former ‘feeling stuffer,’ I have learned to welcome healing tears, meet anger head-on, dive underneath it, and mingle with the many and varied emotions living there.

I journal, write poetry, and have learned to talk and walk myself through fear. It is an ongoing journey that I relish and am incredibly grateful for.

My training.

I did my undergraduate studies in Seattle before obtaining my graduate degree in San Diego. The social work discipline speaks to me, and it’s my mission to enhance well-being and promote social change, one session at a time.

I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, Integrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based CBT, and Couples Therapy. I am also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional.

Really though, we start wherever you are. You will be in the driver’s seat, with me here to support you on your journey.

When I’m out of the office.

My favorite coffee drink is a Mango Blondie (hot or iced), I still listen to ‘80s music, and the ocean and tropical flowers soothe my soul.

I live with my husband and daughter, plus Max the miniature Schnauzer, Bailey the Yorkie-poo, Ai & Shiro, our Turkish Angora cats, and Gizmo the English Lop bunny.

I can’t wait to work with you. Get in touch today!
